der BCC wird in diesem Jahr 20 Jahre alt. Das werden wir mit einer grossen Geburtstagsfete im Rahmen der Ham Radio 2003 feiern. Wir laden alle Contesterinnen und Contester ein, mit uns zu feiern.
Die Fete steigt am Freitag, den 27. Juni 2003.

Dafuer bekommt Ihr frei essen und frei trinken (Es gibt ein rustikales Buffet sowie Bier und natuerlich auch nicht alkoholische Getraenke) Karten gibt es an der Abendkasse oder am Freitag den ganzen Tag auf dem BCC-Stand auf der Ham Radio, Halle A 2.

Fuer die Anfahrt wird ein Bus ab ca. 18:30 am Messegelaende abfahren und nach Meckenbeuren fahren. Fuer die Heimfahrt werden wir zwei Busfahrten (Abfahrt in Meckenbeuren um 23:30h und um 01:00 h) organisieren. Die genaue Fahrtstrecke werden wir fuer alle Fahrten noch genau bekannt geben.
Wir wuerden uns freuen, wenn wir moeglichst viele Contesterinnen und Contester sowie Freunde und Goenner des BCC von nah und fern begrussen koennten.

Included in the entrance fee is: A tasty Buffet, Bavarian style, lots of beer as well as nonalcolohic beverages. Tickets will be sold at the entrance or during Friday at the BCC-booth in Hall A2, HAM RADIO, Friedrichshafen.

We will offer a shuttle bus transfer for better access to Meckenbeuren. The bus shuttle begins at 18:30 from the Trade Show’s main entrance The return trip is at 23:30 and 01:00 for the tour back to Friedrichshafen.

Ben’s Rede zu 20 Jahre BCC
20 Jahre ist es nun her, daß eine kleine Gruppe von Individualisten den Bayerischen Contest Club aus der Taufe gehoben hat. Nach so langer Zeit verblassen manche Erinnerungen und viele von Euch werden die historischen Zusammenhänge gar nicht genau kennen. Deshalb möchte ich an dieser Stelle kurz auf die Geschichte des BCC eingehen.
Es war 1981, als erste Kontakte zwischen Mitgliedern der Bavarian DX Group aus der Münchener Gegend und der East Bavarian DX Association aus dem ostbayerischen Raum zustandekamen. Vielleicht als Anfang der gemeinsamen Geschichte kann ein QSO aus dem Log von GU5EAH (das war damals DL6RAI auf seiner ersten Expedition) mit DL1MAJ in Grünbach vom 22. August 1981 gelten.
Persönliche Freundschaften entwickelten sich und in der Folgezeit wurden die Kontakte intensiviert. So entstand 1983 die Idee des
gemeinsamen Namens „BCC“, unter dem weltweite Wettbewerbe bestritten werden sollten. Die beiden Gruppen wurden ergänzt durch weitere Amateure aus Bayern, die sich bisher keiner der beiden Gruppierungen angeschlossen hatten.
Der Vorschlag – seinerzeit von DL7MAE und DL6RAI formuliert – fand immer mehr Anhänger, und so konnte bereits 1984 ein erster Sieg über die Süddeutsche DX Gruppe (SDXG) errungen werden.
Da es in den Anfangsjahren keine echte Organisation gab, sind die Aufzeichnungen aus dieser Zeit sehr lückenhaft. Man möge mir
eventuelle Ungenauigkeiten bitte verzeihen. Die Liste der heute noch aktiven Gründungsmitglieder, das sog. „Urgestein“ des BCC, umfasst folgende 18 Rufzeichen:

Seit 1986 gibt es übrigens das alljährliche Heilig-Drei-Königstreffen, das jedes Jahr um den 6. Januar herum im Raum Landshut stattfindet.
Die Führung des BCC (wenn man davon überhaupt sprechen will) lag in den Anfangsjahren zunächst bei DL7MAE und DL6RAI, ging dann 1990 an DF7RX über. Bernhard führte den BCC 9 Jahre lang und war in dieser Zeit immer auch persönlich bei vielen Expeditionen mit dabei. U.a. fungierte er über Jahre als Sekretär, Rundbriefeditor und QSL-Manager des BCC.
Er wurde 1999 durch eine mehrköpfige Gruppe um DL8OH abgelöst, die neue Organisationsstrukturen schaffte und für eine Ordnung der Angelegenheiten innerhalb des BCC sorgte. Gerüchte, nach denen der BCC im Moment einen Gang an die Börse vorbereitet, müssen jedoch zurückgewiesen werden.
Ich möchte kurz an die großen Multi-Multi und Aktivitäten im Leben des BCC erinnern.

Der BCC ist aber nicht nur bei Contesten aktiv sondern auch in angrenzenden Gebieten tätig. Hier sind zu nennen:
Aufbau und Förderung des PacketCluster Netzes seit 1990 durch die Rufzeichen DB0BCC, DB0ABH, DB0CLX. Entwicklung einer eigenen Cluster-Software CLX durch DJ0ZY.
Förderung der Kommunikation innerhalb des Clubs durch Aufbau einer Webseite und Betrieb eines für alle offenen E-Mail-Reflektors (DF4RD, DL4NER)
Entwicklung von diverser Contest-Software, z.B.:

Und darüberhinaus: Viele BCC-Mitglieder bekleiden Ämter und Funktionen innerhalb des DARC und in internationalen Gremien wie dem CQ World Wide Committee.
Der BCC entstand vor 20 Jahren aus einer handvoll Individualisten. Heute hat der BCC über 200 Mitglieder, Tendenz steigend. Man kann sagen, der Club vereint heute eine organisierte Gruppe funk-interessierter Amateure im süddeutschen Raum und ist offen ach
allen Richtungen.
Tun wir unser Bestes, damit die Aktivitäten des BCC weiterhin auf hohem Niveau fortgesetzt werden!
Lassen wir die Jungen ‚ran!
Lassen wir keine Vereinsmeierei aufkommen!
Und unterstützen wir weiterhin die Aktivitäten unserer Mitglieder!
Dann können wir uns heute in 30 Jahren zum 50-Jährigen Jubiläum des BCC treffen.

It’s been twenty years since a small group of individuals created the idea of the „Bavarian Contest Club“. After such a long time, memories begin to fade and many of you may not even be aware of the historical context. Please allow me to share with you a short overview of the history of the BCC.
In 1981, the first contact was established between memebers of the „Bavarian DX Group“ in the Munich area and the „East Bavarian DX Association“ in eastern Bavaria. Perhaps the beginning of the common history we can be traced to a QSO from the log of GU5EAH (this was DL6RAI on his first DX-pedition) with DL1MAJ in Grünbach on August 22, 1981.
Friendship soon developed between members of both groups and the contact was intensified. So in 1983, the idea of a common name „BCC“ emerged, with a charter to represent Bavaria in international competitions. The initial membership was completed by radio amateurs in Bavaria who were not members of either of the two groups.
The proposal, initially posted by DL7MAE and DL6RAI, was appreciated more and more and so in 1984 a first victory could be established over the Süddeutsche DX Gruppe (SDXG).
Since there was no real organisation in the first years, records from this era are very sparse. Please excuse any inaccuracies. The list of the founding members of the BCC who are still active today includes the following 18 callsigns:

Since 1986, the BCC holds its annual meeting, the „Heilig-Drei-Königstreffen“, around January 6th every year in the Landshut/Lower
Bavaria area.
The leading forces of the BCC (if we can call it that at all), initially were DL7MAE and DL6RAI, succeeded by DF7RX in 1990. Bernhard headed the BCC for nine consecutive years and was personally involved in many expeditions of the club. He was the secretary, newsletter editor and QSL manager of the BCC – all in a single person.
In 1999 a small task force led by DL8OH took over and reorganized the BCC. Rumors suggesting that the BCC is headed for the stock market are absolutely incorrect!

BCC is not only active in Contests but also in many contest-related activieies, such as:
Establishing and maintenance of the European Packet Cluster network since 1990 with the callsigns DB0BCC, DB0ABH and DB0CLX. DJ0ZY developed CLX, a PacketCluster compatible software still widely in use today.
Promotion of communications inside the club using Web technology and an open E-Mail reflector (DF4RD, DL4NER).
Development and deployment of contest-related software such as:

RCKLOG Contest and RTTY Logging software by DL4RCK

BCC runs the only (unique) worldwide Meteor Scatter Contest.
BCC members took part in WRTCs 1996, 2000 and 2002.
Contributions to many national and international events such as HAM RADIO Friedrichshafen, HF and VHF Conferences in Munich, Germany, International DX and Contest Meeting Helsinki, Finland.
Moreover, many BCC members are currently DARC officials and contest managers and are active in international affairs such as the CQ World Wide Committee.
BCC originated 20 years ago from a hand full of individualists. Today BCC’s membership excedes 200 and is still rising. One can say the club today unites an organised group of active radio amateurs in Southern Germany and is open into all directions.
Let’s all do our best to assure that the activities of the BCC continues on a high level!

Let’s fight „Vereinsmeierei“!
And let’s support the activities of our members!
Then we can meet 30 years from today to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the BCC.
