Jose was a very enthusiastic VHF operator and DXer. Also, he was doing DXpeditions by himself (i.e. C31 or EA9 and others). I personally worked Jose on almost each possible mode on 2m (Es, MS, FAI and EME, even when he had just a single yagi). I also worked Jose when I was on DXped myself, on MS from SV9, CT3 via EME when I was active as 9Y4/DL5MAE or 5B4/DL5MAE. This EME CW contacts took place from 2 yagi - 2 yagi only!

Our friend Jose got 2m DXCC with just 2 yagis and worked NF2V (Vermont State) for his WAS # 50 just a few days before he passed away! TNX to NF2V!

I am really glad I met Jose also personally. First time it was sometime in the 80s in Weinheim and the 2nd time it was in Switzerland at the EME meeting. I did not know him very close but I will keep his friendlyness and cordial character for ever in my mind.

World is changing fast and everything has to go fast and faster and commercial. I am so much more happy meeting such a nice chap like Jose, a fantastic person, I enjoyed every contact with him. A real friend has gone.

We will miss you Jose!

...This year I noticed lots of stations which were impatient. From some which I was not able to response at the first period they used to abandon the QSO. To 13 other stations I was transmitting final-RRRRR without getting final-RRRRR back. I think there is no need to be nervous, for MS random it is neccessary to be a little bit patient. As the other years the BCC MS Contest was wonderful!)
